Who these terms are with
Maldric is offered by Intrepid Developer, operated by Chris Vanderplank in the United Kingdom. Questions: chris@intrepid-developer.com .
The author desk is a separate host from this marketing site.
The waitlist is register-interest
Leaving your email is a request to hear when we have an invite for you. It is not a contract for paid access, not a reserved seat, and not an account. We do not promise a date. The same email twice stays one row; you will not be billed from this page. Joining sends one transactional acknowledgement through AhaSend. That is not a newsletter.
The desk is invite-only
The author desk is an invite-only closed beta. A place on the waitlist does not entitle you to an invite. Existing desk accounts never need a new invite to sign in. New accounts Activate by confirming email before the library opens.
You own your writing
The manuscript is yours. We do not claim copyright in the chapters and bible sheets you write. You can download a local working copy of the live draft from the desk whenever you like — including on a trial, after it ends, or if a paid plan is paused. That zip is not this marketing site, and it is not a store-ready ebook. Pause, cancel, past due, or trial end turns the desk download-only. We do not delete the library. Resume is through Stripe.
The author writes; changes stay in your hands
You write the manuscript. Optional Chat, review, character converse, Ideas, Timeline, Style, import extract and Imagine covers use Grok (provided by SpaceXAI). A suggested chapter edit is only applied when you accept it.
Retailers decide how AI use must be disclosed. KDP distinguishes assistance with your own content from AI-generated content, including cover and interior images. Accepting a suggestion does not by itself make work AI-assisted. You are responsible for the appropriate disclosure for your text and images. Read KDP’s current content guidelines. Maldric does not guarantee a retailer’s classification or acceptance of your book.
No one-click store publish
Export is a pack plus a checklist you upload yourself. There is no publish button into KDP, IngramSpark, or any other store. Send-to-Kindle emails the finished EPUB to an address you typed — never the markdown zip.
Beta / ARC readers
You may invite readers to a snapshot of a book. They get a token link and a watermarked EPUB/PDF. We do not watermark your own files. Their comments are markup; apply stays with you. Readers do not get a Maldric account.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- upload work you do not have the right to use;
- try to break into someone else’s library, the operator console, or our hosts;
- use the service to spam, harass, or send malware;
- treat this waitlist as a newsletter list you can scrape;
- pass off a machine-written novel as a book you wrote unaided, against the author-writes rule above.
Plans and prices may change
The trial, paid plans and credit packs on the home page describe the current offer. Paid desks and credit packs are chosen on the signed-in desk through Stripe — not on this marketing site. We may change plan names, prices, or included credits with notice on the desk. The live draft is never locked behind a plan.
Nobody is charged from this waitlist page.
Hosting and availability
The product is hosted on Railway in an EU region (privacy). Transactional mail (waitlist acknowledgement, desk confirm, password reset, ARC invite, send-to-Kindle, and optional writing reminders the author sets on the desk) goes through AhaSend, also in the EU (privacy). That is not a newsletter. Paid desks go through Stripe (privacy). Optional Chat and review use Grok from SpaceXAI (privacy). Errors, traces, logs, and product metrics from the signed-in desk, the API, and the operator console go to Sentry (EU ingest) (privacy) so the studio can fix crashes. That is ops telemetry, not a manuscript store, and this marketing site does not load it. Style-page font picker and pack preview may load a catalogue from Google Fonts (privacy); the writing desk, desk chrome, this site, and the operator console do not. We aim to keep the service up, but we do not warrant uninterrupted access. This is not a service-level agreement.
If something goes wrong
To the extent UK law allows, Intrepid Developer is not liable for lost profits, a missed invite, a book that does not sell, or indirect loss from using this site or the desk. We are not responsible for store rejections or for how a retailer reads your AI disclosure.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else the law does not let us limit. If a court finds a clause unenforceable, the rest still applies.
English law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without taking away any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer in the United Kingdom.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top is when this version was last changed.
