The author owns the work
The chapter body you typed is the source of truth. Optional notes can suggest a change. They do not overwrite the manuscript until you apply them. I built it that way because I will not use a desk that quietly rewrites my book.
There is no KDP or IngramSpark publish button. You export files, check them against the retailer’s current requirements, and upload them yourself. Accepting a note does not decide a store’s AI disclosure category. Read the current retailer guidance and make the disclosure that matches the work. Maldric does not guarantee a classification. The FAQ links the KDP page.
The local working copy
Settings → Your work offers Download the library: a markdown zip of every book’s live chapters, the series bible, images, and About the author. Optional one-book zips sit under that. It is not gated on a paid plan. It does not go through the watermarked ebook builder.
That is the copy I want if the subscription ends on a bad week. Plain files. Your words. You can keep writing in any editor that opens markdown.
The local working copy is available on the 30-day trial, after the trial, and if the £2.99 subscription is paused or cancelled. The library is not deleted.
The finished pack
When you want files for a store, download the pack: EPUB and print PDF together, with a quiet checklist for KDP or Ingram. Preview the page first. Trial ebook exports are marked as trial copies; a subscription includes clean exports. Kindle mail, if you use it, sends the finished EPUB — never the markdown zip.
Covers stay on the book: front, spine, back, and a wrap PDF sized from the page count. You still check the printer’s template before you upload.
If you pause or stop
Pause, cancel, past due, or trial end becomes a download-only desk: you can read and download; writing, import, and assistant work wait until you resume. Resume is through Stripe on the signed-in desk. I do not invent a pause if billing is not configured, and I do not delete the library to force a return.
Writing, saving, organising the series bible, and downloading do not use AI credits. Asking the desk to read a chapter for Facts, or for review notes, does. See the credits answer and the subscription on the home page.
Signup is open. No invitation. Creating a desk does not start a subscription.
