For indie fiction authors
Your books, in one desk.
Write the draft with your series bible and timeline beside it. The people, places and dates you have already settled stay in view, from the first book to the last.
30 days on the full desk. No card to start. Then £2.99 a month.

By chapter thirty, the book is no longer just the chapter.
It is also an age you settled in chapter four, an alias only one character uses, and a winter that has to end where you ended it. Some of that reaches your notes. Most of it lives only in the prose, and it slips while you write the next scene.
Maldric gives all of that a place beside the manuscript, so the next scene starts from what the book already says. You decide what is true.
If your series lives in a folder of documents today, here is how the two compare.
The series bible
Characters, places and the rules of your world, with a full sheet behind each one. Maldric also keeps what the chapters already claimed, each fact beside the passage it came from. A name in the draft opens its sheet.
The timeline
What happened, in the order it happened, across every book. You pin the events yourself, so book two starts from the record rather than from memory.
Bring your manuscript
Import Word (.docx), EPUB, PDF or a markdown zip, check the chapters, and carry on where you left off. A standalone book gets its own bible and timeline too.
A second look, when you want one.
Ask Maldric to review the book against the bible. Each note is pinned to the line it is about, so you can open the chapter with the passage in front of you.
Accept the edit, write your own, or leave it. Notes do not change the chapter until you apply them, and a review only runs when you ask for one.
30 days free. Then one subscription.
One plan, no tiers. The trial opens everything, and when it ends you choose whether to subscribe.
How your files leave with youThe subscription
£2.99 a month
- Writing, the series bible and the timeline
- Clean EPUB and print PDF exports to upload yourself
- 500 credits for Maldric, refilled every month
- Your writing stays yours. Download it any time, including after the trial ends or after you cancel.
- Cancel any time. You keep the desk until the end of the month you have paid for.
About credits. Writing does not use them. Chat on a selection is about 5 credits. A whole chapter is about 20. A full book review reads every chapter against your bible, so it uses more. Need more? A credit pack tops you up, and pack credits carry over.
I built the desk I needed.
I'm Chris Vanderplank, an indie author and a software developer. I write from the UK, and I built it because I was losing track of my own series. My notes lived in documents next to the draft, and then I stopped opening them.
If Maldric is missing something you need, or gets something wrong, tell me. Feedback comes straight to me.
